What Is Hydroponics

What is Hydroponics?

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without the need of soil. With most plants in natural conditions, soil acts as a mineral nutrient reservoir but the soil itself is not essential to make the plant grow; but the nutrients are. One of the major problems in growing plants in soil is knowing how much or how little to water the plants. Using the hydroponic method, plants have constant access to oxygen and to as much or as little water as they need. This ensures that the plant can regulate its own intake, depending on what it needs.

There are many different mediums that can be used instead of soil including rockwool slabs and clay pebbles. We can advise you on the best medium for the crops you intend to grow, as they all have their own benefits. Hydroponics allows you to grow plants indoors, so you will also need lighting and, possibly, heating systems. We have a full range of lighting and heating solutions and can design one for your needs. Every type of plant has ideal growing conditions and these can be recreated using these systems.

Using hydroponic farming you can control what crops you grow, the seasons you grow them in and yield that you will achieve. This truly is the future of farming.
